Stephen and Illyse Welles challenged us to find a way to combine two older houses (separated by only five feet) into one on a limited budget. One house was constructed of granite stone and the other of brick. One was a story-and-a half cape, the other a two-story federalist. The Welles style was more Victorian.

We spend days getting to know these structures. We measured, we poked, and we crawled through cobwebs. We recorded electrical panel sizes and circuits. We documented boilers and piping runs. We found that the floor levels of the two houses did not match.

After presenting five different plans with exterior renderings and price tags, the Welles chose the concept that wedded the two houses with an octagonal Dining Room and relocated the front door to the brick house. In addition to these features the design included a large Master Bedroom Suite and new Kitchen as well as appearing very Victorian.

This project demonstrates four characteristics that differentiate ADM from other firms:
  1. We are committed to our clients and will do what ever is needed to provide the best solutions.
  2. We are not afraid of getting our hands dirty to understand our client's existing home.
  3. We are talented designers and will offer several excellent designs.
  4. We always surprise (in a good way) our clients.
